“Cities have a vibe, a feeling, a buzz, when its denizens, places, and activities come together in situations of critical mass. I prowl urban streets seeking scenes where multiple factors come together in something visually special.  Then I photograph it.  What I look for is elusive, and it shows up in the darndest places, like back alleys, a sorority rush, a political rally, a bar prohibiting sagging, and a boot return—really, a boot return.  For this exhibition the buzzing is from Austin.” Ed Malcik
